You asked, we built it: AI Session Assistant now works on any device & learns your style

You finished your last session at 5:30. You have three sets of notes to write, a parent call at 6, and you promised yourself you’d leave by 6:30 tonight.
This is the reality for most rehab therapists, whether you practice physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT), or speech-language pathology (SLP). And it’s exactly why Ensora Health built AI Session Assistant into Fusion’s rehab EHR in the first place. Ambient listening captures your session while you focus on your client, then generates structured clinical notes you can review and finalize in minutes instead of hours.
But clinicians told us two things were still getting in the way: the notes didn’t always sound like them, and they couldn’t always use the tool the way they wanted to.
So we’ve released two new enhancements to address both concerns.
New: Browser-based web app
AI Session Assistant is no longer tied to a single device or app. The new browser-based web app brings ambient listening and note generation to any phone, tablet, or computer with a web browser.
That means:
- Use your existing devices. No app to download, no compatibility concerns. If it runs a modern browser, it runs AI Session Assistant.
- Switch between devices mid-day. Start a session capture on your tablet in the treatment room, review and edit notes on your desktop between clients.
- Consistent experience everywhere. The same interface and functionality whether you’re on an iPhone, a Chromebook, or your office PC.
For clinicians who work across multiple rooms, locations, or settings, this removes a real barrier to using AI documentation support throughout the day.
New: Custom Note Builder
Every clinician documents differently. The way an experienced pediatric OT structures a treatment note looks nothing like what a new-grad PT in an adult outpatient practice writes. An SLP working in early intervention has yet another approach. All three are valid.
Custom Note Builder gives you control over how AI Session Assistant generates your notes. Instead of editing AI output to match your preferences after every session, you train the system to reflect your clinical voice from the start.
Here’s what that looks like in practice:
- Set your preferred note structure. Choose how sections are organized, whether you lead with objective findings, group by goal, or follow a format specific to your discipline or payer requirements.
- Define your terminology. If you use specific clinical language, abbreviations, or phrasing that your documentation requires, Custom Note Builder learns to use them consistently.
- Match your voice. Some clinicians write concise, data-forward notes. Others include narrative context about client engagement and behavior. Custom Note Builder adapts to how you document, not a one-size-fits-all template.
The result is AI-generated notes that need less editing, feel more like your own work, and get you closer to a finalized note in fewer clicks.
You can also share Custom Note Builder templates across the team, giving new hires a head start and keeping documentation consistent without limiting individual preferences.
Why this matters for your practice
Documentation burden is one of the most-cited contributors to burnout among rehab therapists. A 2024 study published in the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association found that outpatient PT, OT, and SLP clinicians reported documentation demands that encroached on both clinical care and personal time, contributing directly to emotional exhaustion. Industry estimates suggest therapists spend upward of 30% of their working hours on documentation alone.
AI Session Assistant already reduces the time clinicians spend writing notes after sessions. These enhancements push that further by removing friction. You’re more likely to use a tool that works on any device you happen to have, and more likely to trust notes that sound like you wrote them.
For practice owners, that translates to:
- More completed notes, fewer after-hours documentation sessions. Clinicians who can document efficiently between sessions are less likely to fall behind or burnout from documenting after hours.
- Better documentation consistency. Custom Note Builder helps standardize note quality across your team without forcing everyone into the same rigid template.
- Easier onboarding for new clinicians. New team members can set up their documentation preferences from day one instead of spending weeks manually adjusting AI output.
“The AI is brilliant – it’s transformed our workflow. We can focus on real conversations with parents and patients while it handles the clinical terminology, organizes our notes, and generates clear goals and descriptions. What started with skepticism has turned us into its biggest fans.”
– Kelly Rabe and Deandra McCoy, ThriveKids OT
“I’m usually behind on my notes, but AI Session Assistant by Fusion has been a game changer for me. It’s honestly been life-changing.”
– Christina Swendra, OT & Co-Owner, Embrace Therapy Services
