Mental Health Awareness Month: A time to reflect, act, and innovate

May is here, and with it, Mental Health Awareness Month. This month offers a moment to pause, recognize the importance of mental well-being for everyone, challenge stigma, and see the progress being made in care.
You see firsthand, every single day, how vital it is to prioritize mental health – not just for your clients, but just as importantly, for yourselves and your communities. Ensora Health is proud to stand alongside Mental Health America (MHA) as we champion mental wellness together.
What is Mental Health Awareness Month?
Founded by MHA in 1949, Mental Health Awareness Month is an annual observance dedicated to raising awareness about mental health conditions, promoting early intervention, and encouraging open conversations. It serves as a reminder that mental health is just as essential as physical health and that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
It’s also a time to recognize the challenges people face and the progress still needed in access, treatment, and understanding. For therapists, it’s an invitation to amplify your voice: to educate, to advocate, and to lead by example in creating a world where mental health is treated with the same urgency as physical health.
Why this matters
The past decade has underscored the fragility of mental health. From pandemic-related burnout to rising rates of anxiety and depression, the need for skilled, compassionate care has never been greater. Yet, despite the increased awareness, many still face barriers to care—stigma, access issues, or simply feeling overwhelmed. This month offers a chance to reaffirm your commitment to providing compassionate, accessible care and to remind your clients that they’re not alone.
Ensora Health’s commitment to mental health
Supporting therapists is why Ensora Health (formerly TheraNest) exists. Built by clinicians, for clinicians, our goal is simple: to give you back hours every week so you can breathe, recharge, and show up fully for your work.
We believe that providing you with better, simpler tools directly leads to better care for your clients. That’s why we’re investing in smart solutions that enhance how you connect with and serve the people who rely on you. Whether it’s streamlining billing, organizing client records, or reducing administrative tasks, we’re here to help you thrive—because when you do, your clients do too.
Our commitment extends to championing initiatives that make mental health care more accessible and sustainable for both your practice and the people you serve.
Supporting the cause: Our partnership with Mental Health America
This year, we’re proud to partner with Mental Health America, the very organization that started Mental Health Awareness Month. MHA is dedicated to addressing the needs of those facing mental health challenges, advocating for policy change, and providing resources to promote well-being. Our partnership highlights our shared goal: making mental health care easier to access, more integrated, and truly supportive for everyone.
What we’re doing this month
We know how demanding your work is. Focusing on your own mental well-being can feel incredibly challenging when you’re constantly supporting others. Too often, therapists put themselves last.
This month, we’re tackling that head-on. We’ve teamed up with MHA to offer a webinar designed specifically for you: “Take Action for Yourself: Creating Lasting Change for Your Mental Health”.
Here’s what you can expect from the session:
- Practical strategies: Small, intentional steps that promote stability and balance.
- Radical acceptance: How embracing what’s beyond your control can reduce emotional suffering and open pathways to peace.
- Tools for resilience: Building self-compassion and maintaining motivation through setbacks.
Meet the speakers
- Israa Nasir, MHC-LP: A NYC-based therapist, writer, and founder of WellGuide, who focuses on mental health awareness.
- Meghan Watson: A Registered Psychotherapist and founder of Bloom Psychology & Wellness, working with diverse communities.
- Tyler Key: A Navy clinical counselor bringing a unique perspective on resilience and self-care.

Looking forward: The Ensora Platform
While we’re highlighting Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re also excited to share how we’re innovating to support your work year-round. At the National Council for Mental Wellbeing conference, we launched the Ensora Platform— a comprehensive, cloud-based system that unites electronic health records, practice management, billing, and more to make whole-person care the norm.
What does this mean for you?
- Intelligent whole-person care made simple: The platform connects mental, physical, and social determinants of health in one place, giving you a full picture of your clients’ needs.
- Built for your workflow: Practice management, EHR, and billing tools work together seamlessly—no more switching between systems.
- AI-driven support: Features like automated note-taking and real-time reporting free up time so you can spend less on paperwork and more on meaningful care.
What’s next?
- Interoperability: An API framework will soon connect your practice with other providers, fostering team-based care.
- Customizable reports: Track clinical, operational, and financial performance to make smarter decisions.
- Ensora Marketplace: Partner tools like scheduling or telehealth apps will integrate directly with the platform, expanding your options.
A step toward better care
The Ensora Platform is designed to help you deliver care that’s more connected and informed—an essential step as we move toward a healthcare system that recognizes the whole person. Our goal is to reduce your administrative burden so you can spend more time doing what you want to do.
